LION ROAR, 1/35
LAS35001 - 1/35 Full Set of Super Detail Update Conversion Series
(for Trumpeter BR-52)
I was dumbfounded when I saw this set…set being the wrong
words, this is a SUPERSET. It is really astonishing and is magnificently
packed in an impeccably small box. It has:
— 16 photo-etched sheets (yes, that's correct, sixteen sheets!)
— 20 resin brake shoes
— 7 plastic and copper rods of 0.2, 0.4, 0.5, 0.8, 1 and
1.5 mm
What can we do with all this stuff? We can change the Trumpeter's
BR-52 Kriegslocomotive radically for it to become a small work
of art. This great kit from Trumpeter is transformed with the
Lion Roar set into a really spectacular model.
The PE sheets allow you to super detail the entire model. Special
attention has been applied to the driving cabin, with all the
panels, instruments, dials, and cranks being replaced. The dials
come on a transparent acetate sheet that must be painted white
on their backside before being placed. This sheet also includes
the glass for the windows and headlights. The roof plate looks
like wooden strips with the grain finely engraved in the brass.
Other parts that will really make the model spectacular are the
anti-skid plates that have many and larger fine details, and the
smoke deflectors that will replace the absolutely wrong kit parts.
The brake shoes are outstanding and are formed from several PE
parts and a resin part for each wheel.
In view of the magnitude of work, it is recommended to organise
this in the best way possible. In this sense, the instructions
help us by showing the number of the kit part to replace or improve.
On the other extreme, this is an expensive set, although it is
best value for your money. When considering the price of the model
and this set, it is still lower than the price of the only other
available resin kit. Besides, this buy will provide a lot of satisfaction
once the assembly of Trumpeter's impressive BR-52 with Lion Roar's
upgrade set is finished.
Highly recommended to enjoy "hi-tech" modelling.
For all that are going to be brave enough… happy holidays!
I already know what model I will build next summer.
